Mehrangarh Fort   The 5 km long majestic fort on a 125 metre high hill is one of the most impressive and formidable structures. Although invincible from the outside, the fort has four gates approached by a winding road. Within the fort are some magnificent palaces with marvelously carved panels, latticed windows and evocative names. Not worthy of these are the Moti Mahal, the Phool Mahal, the Sheesh Mahal, the Sileh Khana and the Daulat Khana. These palaces house a fabulous collection of trappings of Indian royalty including a superb collection of palanquins, elephant hawdahs, miniature paintings of various schools, musical instruments, costumes and furniture. Later you will be taken for lunch and then proceed to visit Balsammand Palace:
Balsammand Palace At some point of time in our life, we all want to stay at a place overlooking a water body, preferably a sea. The Jodhpur Balsammand Palace in Mandore, Rajasthan offers you this kind of comfort. This palace is built on a hillock facing Balsammand Lake. This popular excursion of Jodhpur, Rajasthan was constructed in 19th century and is made up of sandstone. Maharajah Sur Singh of Jodhpur, as a summer pavilion, built this palace encircled by hills. Guda Bishnoi Village If you want to get an experience of the tribal India, Jodhpur Guda Bishnoi Village is the place for you. It is approximately 25 kms from the main city of Jodhpur. Jaswant Thada Cluster of royal cenotaphs in white marble built in 1899 A.D. in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Within the main cenotaph are the portraits of various Jodhpur rulers.
Later you will be taken for an excursion tour of Mandore The 'Mandore gardens', with its charming collection of temples and memorials, and its high rock terraces, is another major attraction. The Mandore Gardens also house a government museum, a 'Hall of Heroes' and a temple to 33 crore Gods. Various artefacts and statues found in the area are housed at the museum. The 'Hall of Heroes' commemorates popular folk heroes of the region. It contains 16 figures carved out of a single rock. Next door is a larger hall called "The temple of 33 crore Gods" which houses images of various Hindu Gods. Late evening return back to Jodhpur.
 

Tour 4: Jodhpur city tour

The city is known as the "Sun City" for the bright, sunny weather it enjoys all year. It is also referred to as the "Blue City" due to the blue-painted houses around the Mehrangarh Fort. The old city circles the fort and is bounded by a wall with several gates. However, the city has expanded greatly outside the wall over the past several decades. Jodhpur lies near the geographic centre of Rajasthan state, which makes it a convenient base for travel in a region much frequented by tourists.

Umaid Bhawan Palace The only 20th century palace built under the famine relief project that gave employment to famine struck population. The palace was completed in 16 years.
